Headquartered at LAX with a dozen branch offices all over the world, they own advanced operational equipment, self-operated trucks, operation teams, and an overall storage area of more than 40,000 square feet.</p><p>As a comprehensive, end-to-end logistics company,  Xchange Logistics handles ocean and air imports and exports, warehouse preparation, and local transferring –including long haul and local deliveries. Their door-to-door service allows their customers to benefit from additional services that typically require a third-party, without having to leave their company.</p><p>With multiple daily shipments to coordinate the operations are complex and increasingly time-consuming.</p>

<h3>Challenge:</h3><p>Xchange Logistics handles ocean &amp; air import &amp; export, warehouse preparation, and local transferring, which includes long haul and local deliveries. Handling more parts of the logistics process than most other large logistics companies requires a lot of checking in. This sparked the demand for GPS tracking devices.</p>\n<p>Initially, a regular GPS tracking tool was used. However, it became clear that a better and more reliable solution was needed. Instead, they deliver and pick up the golf cart from customers, which makes them different from every other golf cart rental company on Folly Island. They also don’t just rent out the regular types of golf carts you typically see on a golf course. Their golf carts are lifted, with bigger tires and custom with bright colors –perfect for a sunny vacation. Because of all of the customization, their golf carts cost anywhere from $6,000 to up to $13,000 a piece. With so much of their capital tied up in the golf carts, it’s important for them to keep track of them at all times.</p>

<h3>Solution:</h3><p>To solve this challenge, Island Golf Carts uses Hapn’s GPS tracking system on every golf cart they rent out. As you can imagine, it’s a lot to keep up with and keep track of.</p><p>“It wasn&#8217;t too terribly long ago we spent a lot of hours in a week&#8217;s time chasing down assets, trying to figure out where things were to get them in here to our shop and service equipment. Even just trying to track stuff down and figure out where it is was a pain.” Trying to get equipment from point A to point B became increasingly difficult. Left making phone sales, calling out to employees on sites, and spending a lot of hours on the road, having to drive out to sites just to see if the equipment was there. It required a lot of manual tracking –including fuel, mileage, and time.</p>

<h3>Solution:</h3><p>The company required a solution that would provide the visibility necessary to reduce the time spent searching for equipment. In fact, they recently just had a rollover vehicle that needed to be confirmed and located.</p><p>“Sure enough, I pulled up, I said ‘yes, it looks like it&#8217;s just sitting on the side of the road here and hadn&#8217;t moved in a while, so we better give somebody a call,” explained Service Superintendent. “It&#8217;s just really neat, and it sounds so simple, but just having that insight 24/7 helps us a lot.”</p><p>“As another example, I told this driver he was supposed to take a certain route and we&#8217;re looking at the map and seeing he&#8217;s taking the wrong route, which is costing us an extra 30 minutes to an hour one way. If he would have taken the route that we gave him, we could have saved that time. Those types of things really are probably what we utilize most –the visibility.”</p><p>“Having that insight and visibility has been pretty valuable. Especially the trips –being able to go back and see where everything and everyone has gone is really helpful.” Not only does this energy company get the insights and visibility they need for better operations, they also found it incredibly easy to use and get started. “If you have nothing in place, you can literally get the device in a couple of days, slap it on your asset or vehicle, and be up and running in no time.
