Get a Clear, Daily View of Idling Across Your Fleet

Idling is one of the fastest ways for fuel and maintenance costs to spiral out of control—yet it’s also one of the hardest behaviors to see clearly day to day. Hapn’s new Idling Time Report gives you a simple, daily breakdown of idle hours per asset so you can quickly spot waste, coach drivers, and keep your fleet running efficiently.

What the Idling Time Report Shows

The Idling Time Report summarizes how long each asset in your fleet spends idling on a daily basis within a selected timeframe. Each row represents an asset, and each column represents a day—giving you a grid-style view of idling behavior across your entire operation.

For each asset, you can quickly see:

  • Daily idle hours for the selected date range
  • Total idle time over the entire period
  • Patterns and spikes that may indicate training or policy issues

A summary row at the bottom of the report shows total assets and average daily idle hours, so you can benchmark fleet-wide performance at a glance.

Key Features

Flexible Timeframes — View the last 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, or set a custom date range to match your reporting cadence. Whether you need a quick daily check-in or a full month of data for planning, the report adapts to your needs.

Scheduled Delivery — Set the Idling Time Report to arrive in your inbox (and your team’s) on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule. No more logging in to pull reports before Monday morning meetings.

CSV Export — Download the data to combine with fuel card records, maintenance logs, or payroll data in your own tools. Build custom dashboards, run your own calculations, or share with stakeholders who don’t use Hapn directly.

Column Customization — Show or hide columns to focus on the data points that matter most to your operation using the Report Options panel.

Supported Devices

The Idling Time Report is available for assets equipped with OBD devices and Hardwired devices. If your vehicles are already using these Hapn-compatible trackers, you can start using the report right away—no additional hardware or configuration required.

How Fleets Use the Idling Time Report

Fleet managers and operations teams are using the Idling Time Report to:

  • Cut fuel costs by identifying and reducing excessive idle time across the fleet
  • Extend vehicle life by minimizing unnecessary engine wear from prolonged idling
  • Reinforce driver policies with clear, objective data that supports coaching conversations
  • Support sustainability goals by reducing emissions tied to idling

By turning idling from a hidden cost into a visible, trackable metric, the report helps you take targeted action instead of guessing where the waste is.

Also New: DTC Fault Code Data in the Custom Report Builder

In addition to the Idling Time Report, we’ve expanded the data available in Hapn’s Custom Report Builder. DTC fault code fields—including fault description, active status, and detection dates—are now available as selectable columns. This means you can build custom reports that combine diagnostic data with other asset information, all without needing a custom build from our team.
