A starter interrupt is an optional relay connected to a machine’s starter circuit and controlled through a compatible Hapn wired tracker. It lets you prevent the next engine start and restore starting access remotely.
Can I restrict equipment use if a rental customer doesn’t pay?
Yes. On equipment fitted with Starter Interrupt, you can manually prevent the next engine start while you resolve an overdue balance, in accordance with your agreement and applicable requirements. Once the issue is resolved, you can restore access remotely.
Does it stop an engine that’s already running?
No. Starter Interrupt prevents the engine from cranking on a subsequent start attempt. It does not shut off an engine that is already running.
Can this happen automatically when an invoice is overdue?
Custom invoice-based workflows can be built using Hapn’s API. Your administrators can also schedule enable and disable by day and time, or control access manually in Hapn.
Can I schedule equipment access?
Yes. You can schedule enable and disable by day and time. For workflows based on other business rules, the command is also available through the API.
Who can use Starter Interrupt controls?
Starter Interrupt controls are currently available to Hapn account administrators.
Which equipment and trackers are compatible?
Starter Interrupt works with Hapn GV57 (V21) devices. Some equipment may require additional relays, particularly electric machines and dual-motor equipment such as some man lifts. Tell our team which machines you use so we can confirm the setup.
