Caterpillar (CAT)
OEM Data Feeds
Pull live telematics data directly from your CAT fleet into Hapn. Monitor location, engine hours, fault codes, and utilization across all Cat-connected machines without adding hardware.
Overview
Hapn connects directly to Caterpillar's ISO 15143-3 (AEMP 2.0) telematics API, pulling data from the Cat Product Link hardware already installed on your machines. There's nothing to bolt on and no separate portal to check — your Cat fleet reports into the same Hapn dashboard as every other asset you manage.
For mixed fleets, that's the whole point: Cat machines, other OEM brands, and Hapn-tracked assets side by side, with one set of zones, alerts, and utilization reports across all of them.
Details
Once connected, Hapn ingests the data Caterpillar publishes over the AEMP 2.0 standard feed:
- Location and engine status, so you always know where each machine is and whether it's running.
- Cumulative engine hours and idle hours for utilization tracking and service scheduling.
- Fuel consumption, fuel remaining, and DEF remaining to spot burn anomalies and plan refueling.
- Diagnostic and fault codes with severity, straight from the machine.
- Odometer and payload data where the machine reports it.
That data feeds Hapn's zones, alerts, maintenance, and reporting — and flows onward into rental management platforms like Point of Rental and Quipli if you use them.
Data Info
To connect a Cat fleet you'll need Product Link hardware on the machine and an active Cat telemetry subscription above the free Cat Daily tier — freemium assets aren't exposed through Caterpillar's API. API access is set up as an ISO 15143-3 subscription through Caterpillar's developer portal, and Hapn handles the integration once credentials are issued.
New data is typically available within minutes of a machine reporting; how often machines report depends on your Product Link subscription, and fault code availability varies by hardware and subscription level. Caterpillar can make up to 24 months of history available at connection time.
